Pet Travel Update
As the rules for international travel change, we thought we would update you on our current procedure for obtaining an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for your pet(s).
AHCs replaced EU pet passports in January 2021 and are required for pet dogs, cats and ferrets travelling to the EU and Northern Ireland. They need to be issued within 10 days of travel by an AHPA authorised Official Veterinarian (OV). Here at Hollybank we are fortunate that several of our vets have completed the additional training required to become OVs and we are pleased to be able to offer AHC appointments every Wednesday at our Winnington practice.
In order for us to issue an AHC, your pet will need to have a microchip, an up-to-date rabies vaccination and in some cases a worming treatment. We also have a pre-travel form that you will need to complete prior to your AHC appointment.
For more information about travelling to the EU please download our travel guide here. Please give us as much notice as possible if you intend to travel abroad with your pet and always check the Pet Travel Scheme for any specific country requirements yourself.
