Charity Open Day 2011
On Sunday 4th September Hollybank Veterinary Centre hosted its third charity open day in aid of local children’s charity The Joshua Tree. Following the success of last years event the pressure was on the team at Hollybank to attract more visitors and beat the total amount raised last year for the charity of just under £1000.
Visitors to the event enjoyed tours of the Veterinary Hospital facilities including wards, operating theatres, laboratory and x-ray room. Some of the patients from Hollybank were on hand on the day to help tell their stories of recovery from start to finish. Meanwhile outside in the grounds of Hollybank, music and entertainment was provided by a local DJ. Amongst the stalls and attractions were “The Granny’s Bakery” cake stall, BBQ, ice cream, bouncy castle, face painting, children’s competitions and the ever growing Grand Raffle Stall! Cheshire police dogs attended the event as did The Groom Room, Ceva Animal Health and Representatives from The Joshua Tree.
A fun day was had by all, with many new visitors taking the tour of the surgery but also many existing clients of Hollybank coming along to show their support. The afternoon’s entertainment was provided by the entire staff of Hollybank demonstrating the “Cha Cha slide” to the gathering crowds!
The event has been a huge success, we hope visitors enjoyed learning about what happens behind the scenes at Hollybank but have also managed to raise £1058 for the Joshua Tree!
Hollybank Veterinary Centre Annual Charity Open Day
Hollybank Veterinary Centre is once again making preparations for our annual charity open day to be held on Sunday 4th September 2011. The day will centre on behind the scenes guided tours of the hospital facilities taking in the two sterile operating theatres, laboratory, digital imaging suite and animal wards. The Vets and Nurses from Hollybank will act as guides on the tours, explaining what goes on in each area and demonstrating how some of the specialist equipment works. There will also be an opportunity to see the stories of some of our patients from the beginning of their illnesses right up to them making a full recovery. As in previous years the grounds of Hollybank will also host many fun activities such as a bouncy castle, cake stall, BBQ and competitions for the children. This year’s art competition invites children to create their very own “Ani-mill” which requires them to create a windmill in the theme of their favourite animal. Windmill kits are available from Hollybank reception in advance or children can create their design on the day with a prize for the most imaginative! All proceeds from the event will be donated to local children’s charity “The Joshua Tree” who will also be represented on the day. Tours will be available 10am-3pm.
