COVID-19 – update 27/3/20

We have (again) been issued with updated guidance from the government and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. As we have posted previously, we are only allowed to see emergencies, but we have some further clarification of what constitutes an emergency.

Some examples of emergencies we should still see immediately are:

  • Road Traffic Accidents
  • Seizures
  • Collapse
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Sudden, severe lameness
  • Significant bleeding
  • Swollen abdomen
  • Ingestion of toxins
  • Struggling to urinate or defecate
  • Severe vomiting and/or diarrhoea
  • Addison’s patients and some diabetic patients

For any other concerns we would advise a telephone consultation initially, although we may still advise to see the patient.

We are still unable to see routine vaccinations, with the exception of rabbit vaccines as they are considered to be at high risk. We will shortly be posting some information and advice on what to do if you have a new puppy.

The situation is changing daily and following new guidelines issued by the government and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons we have had to alter how we work effective immediately.

  • We must only see emergencies 
  • Clients must stay outside the practice. We will collect pets from the porch or carpark, examine them, speak to you on the phone if possible, treat them and then return them to you outside

Whilst we can only see emergencies, we can still offer advice and prescribe medications over the phone. We are endeavouring to continue with our delivery service of medicine and food or you can collect from the hospital by arrangement using a ‘safe box’ outside. 

Please remember to bring a mobile phone with you if possible.

We are still open! – COVID-19 update

Just a quick update to reassure everyone that we are still open and caring for our patients and clients.

However, we do need to restrict appointments to essential visits – this means any pet that is unwell or requires treatment. We are postponing or delaying any routine appointments such as puppy checks and nail trims.

We are still providing necessary vaccinations, but delaying any that can be postponed. We are happy to delay boosters up to 14 months from the last vaccine, in some instances even longer – if you are unsure about your pet please call us for advice.

If you require any ongoing medication or food for your pet please call. We are continuing to offer a delivery service locally and can post out most medications.

We continue to provide 24hr emergency care – please call if you have any concerns for your pet.
